CYBERNIGHT 2025 JURY FAVORITE
On June 7, 8 and 9, the 14th edition of FIC – the International Cybersecurity Forum – took place in Lille. This event is the benchmark for cybersecurity in Europe. BlueSecure presents the highlights of this event. A look back at this 14th edition of FIC, centred on the theme “Shaping Europe’s Digital Future.”
What is FIC?
The first edition of the International Cybersecurity Forum was launched at the initiative of General Marc Watin-Augouard and Colonel Régis Fohrer. This forum was created to devise ways of combating cybercrime. Since 2007, the event has attracted an increasing number of visitors – from 500 to 13,000 in 2022. And for good reason: the number of speakers has also continued to grow. Public authorities, large corporations and innovative start-ups: companies of all sizes and backgrounds come together to collectively fight the growing threat posed by cyberattacks.
This event, which concludes the French Presidency of the Council of the European Union, is all the more important as it is directly linked to the strategy established by the European Commission: the “Digital Decade.” It is structured around four areas corresponding to ambitious objectives that Europe hopes to achieve by 2030 in order to regain digital sovereignty and compete with digital leaders such as the United States and China. These four “cardinal points” are skills, secure and sustainable digital infrastructure, the digital transformation of businesses, and the digitalisation of public services. Cybersecurity, at the heart of French (France Relance plan) and European strategies this year, is part of this drive to accelerate Europe’s digital transformation in a secure and sustainable manner.
The theme of FIC 2022 – “Shaping Europe’s Digital Future” – is connected to this challenge. Indeed, it is necessary to break free from this dependence on the United States and China and establish a place in the digital world. Currently, every 11 seconds, ransomware brings a company in Europe to a standstill, and more than 68% of cloud solutions are owned by U.S. companies. Margrethe Vestager, Executive Vice-President of the European Commission, believes that “to increase our cybersecurity, we must cooperate to ensure that we are cybersecure and, of course, be able to do more of it ourselves.”
Organised by the National Gendarmerie and Avisa Partners, with the support of the Hauts-de-France Region, FIC is the must-attend cybersecurity event. This year, it brought together 13,000 visitors, more than 500 exhibitors and more than 450 speakers. The programme included 4 plenary sessions, 33 round tables, 28 conferences, 15 masterclasses and 40 FIC Talks. The two main topics raised at FIC were the implementation of artificial intelligence in Security Operations Centre detection mechanisms and data sovereignty in the cloud.
Focus on the Cyber Innovation Landscape
Every year, the most innovative companies in cybersecurity are showcased and rewarded. This year, the jury awarded four distinct prizes:
- FIC Start-up Award: StrongNetwork (data leak prevention)
- Jury Prize: mindflow (incident detection and response)
- Jury’s Favourite: BlackNoise (incident detection and response)
- Cybersecurity for Industry Award: NanoCorp. (industrial systems security)
