SSL-encrypted form: Why is it essential?

What website today does not have a form on its pages? Whether it is a simple contact form or registration for a service, the online form has become a common way of exchanging information.

The weak point of this tool lies in its security. Personal data such as addresses, phone numbers, as well as usernames and passwords, are transmitted in plain text over the networks of websites that are not secured with HTTP.

As a result, the website is vulnerable to a “Man-in-the-Middle” attack. Specifically, this “man in the middle” attack consists of placing oneself between the visitor and the website’s web server in order to intercept personal data, or even modify it on the fly (to hijack an account, for example).

The most common solution today to protect against this security vulnerability is to implement SSL/TLS encryption.

Installing an SSL certificate guarantees the identity of the website being visited while establishing an encrypted connection using a 2048-bit key.

Data transmitted over networks will therefore be indecipherable to hackers and protected from any misuse.
